This catalogue of Charles Saatchi’s photographic collection was conceived, not as a conventionally harmonious single design, but as a collection of independent elements – spine, title page, artwork captions, etc – that were each individually designed to maximise their purpose. In keeping with this heightened functional aesthetic, the image plates and captions started on the front cover and ran consecutively over the end papers and on through to the back cover.
